Dormitory Check-in/Check-out at Hendrick House Dorms

The housing cost per night will be $32 per person in a double-occupancy room, and $50 for one person in a double-occupancy room. The housing cost includes a full hot breakfast. You can reserve space in the housing when you register for the workshop. You will be contacted in April regarding payment for housing. The workshop registration fee is due when you register for the workshop.

The Hendrick House is located about 10 minutes' walk from the workshop location, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.

For those arriving outside of the above check-in times, there is a Resident Advisor on call, as needed. Details will be posted here.

Details about the dormitory housing

a) Sleeping rooms

The dormitory rooms are double occupancy. Two rooms share a bathroom, i.e. four people share the shower/toilet/sink. If you know someone else attending the workshop and would like to room together, please list the name on the registration form.

Each room will have a bed, dresser, desk, chair, and closet for each occupant. A linen packet will be provided in your room and will include: 2 flat sheets, 2 towels, a pillow and summer weight blanket. A washcloth, soap and toilet paper are also provided. Other toiletries (such as shampoo) are NOT provided.

b) Breakfast and snacks

A hot breakfast will be included with the cost of housing. The breakfasts are typically: scrambled eggs, a breakfast meat (bacon/sausage/ham), a daily grill special (such as pancakes or breakfast sandwiches), a bagel bar, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, donuts. Coffee, tea, milk, and juice will also be available. If you are not staying at the Hendrick House but would like to have breakfast, the charge is $6.

At Hendrick House, coffee and tea is available until about 6pm (free of charge) in the first floor lounge adjacent to the dining hall. Other lounges have pianos, tv, and tables and chairs.

c) Laundry Facilities

There are free laundry facilities in dormitories, lower level. Detergent will be also provided at the front desk--just ask for a cup of detergent.

d) Exercise Facilities

Hendrick House fitness equipment is in the basement and open to dormitory residents 24 hours. You will need your key fob to enter. The University of Illinois gyms are available at a cost of $10 per day. To use any of the gyms, request a letter from the ES Workshop registration table, and then show the letter at the gym, and pay $10.
